ROBO Dock & Door (RDD) offers comprehensive warehouse consulting services. By using a highly collaborative approach, we work together with our client to design, develop and implement warehouse and fulfillment solutions that upgrade and enhance the safety of operations, reduce maintenance costs, streamline flow of product and equipment and increase the overall morale of employees.

We know you're not going to rush into a decision about your warehouse and facility operations without doing some solid homework. Also we feel that RDD has several significant advantages over our competition in consulting options that can help you realize payback on your decisions measured in months, not years.

Initial Assessment

In order to find the best solutions for a client’s needs, RDD conducts an initial on-site assessment to learn about the way your particular business operates. Based on this initial assessment, we compile a management summary of our findings and suggest industry best practices that include a comparative list of safety hazards found and solutions, potential equipment upgrades, possible refurbish opportunities and other cost savings options and investment budget estimates.

This initial assessment provides estimates for the range of investment that the project requires, necessary project benchmarks, possible project schedules and duration times and cost justification audits showing in black and white the expected rate of return. At that point, clients can decide if they need additional assistance on project procurement and determine if they would like to continue using RDD for equipment and implementation needs.

When clients decide to move forward with RDD on their growth and expansion needs, we begin working with them on a consult from two points of view.

Refurbish vs. Replace?

A good warehouse consultant should be able to show you some temporary relief and cost effective solutions within your current four walls that will remedy the situation and/or allow more time so you are not forced to make a quick, possibly costly expansion decision. RDD consultants have extensive experience in assisting clients in the identification of issues that can be quickly and affordably remedied.

RDD is an industry leader in providing affordable solutions that utilize our clients existing material handling systems whenever possible. RDD consulting services are also backed by strong aftermarket and service teams that can audit and forecast the remaining lifespan of your equipment. Planned Maintenance Programs (PMP) can be implemented immediately to get your down equipment up and running and productivity there by increased. By refurbishing and securing successful maintenance plans, overall costs are reduced and enhanced ROI over traditional solutions is realized.

If we determine in the initial consultation and walkthrough that to meet your growth and performance needs we cannot simply refurbish and re-work your existing dock equipment, doors or other material handling equipment and the need for new systems is confirmed, a few thoughts need to be considered.

Estimating Space Requirements: Short and long term requirements based upon forecasts, historical usage patterns, and projected changes are considered. RDD will work with your operations team in developing new layouts to maximize usage of space. We will consult with you on individual needs such as your loading dock area, conditioned air sections, modular building and mezzanine needs and vertical lift systems. The safety of personnel in close proximity to plant traffic is also considered.

Choosing Material Storage and Handling Systems: The type of storage and handling equipment for your operations is chosen based on product velocity, cube, seasonality, replenishment frequency, purchase cost, and total operating costs. The next step is to send out requests for proposals (RFPs) to potential vendors. RDD’s extensive experience with multiple vendor sources for all types of equipment will allow us to narrow the field to the two or three providers who might best meet the client's needs.

Project-Managing the Implementation: RDD can assist clients in project-managing implementation of the systems they select. We will assist with planning and managing the client and vendor resources to complete the project within the proposed time frame and budget of the client. RDD can manage the project while keeping clients well informed about the ongoing process and clients are able to continue their operations without being unduly distracted by the implementation process.

Why make several calls when only one is needed?

RDD specializes in providing complete turnkey solutions for every step of any renovation project. By providing project management, we cover everything from tear-out of old material to design, engineering, installation, safety training and product support of the new systems. We can handle it all-turn key.

Implementation Planning: All projects require careful planning and many projects require the coordination and integration of various vendors. This is especially true when you have decided to retrofit an existing operation and you must still ship customer orders every day. We will help you with specific and detailed planning of implementation tasks to ensure success!

Your consulting needs are important to us. We want the opportunity to work with you on your expansion needs and become a partner in your growth plans. Contact your RDD representative today about your expansion plans.
